Off-Label uses: Borderline Personality Disorder, PTSD, OCD, Alcohol, Cocaine & other Drug Dependencies, Anxiety, Sleep Disorders (including Restless Leg & PLMD), Schizophrenia and Schizoaffective Disorder, and Alzheimer's-related disorders.
Side effects:
  • Change in appetite; constipation; diarrhea; dizziness; drowsiness; hair loss; headache; indigestion; nausea; stomach cramps or pain; trouble sleeping; vomiting; weakness; weight changes. Also linked to an increased risk of Stevens Johnson Syndrome and possible connection to increased suicidal thoughts.

Depakote

Depakote, also marketed in its generic form, Divalproex Sodium, is an anticonvulsant that is also used to treat bipolar disorder and migraine headaches. Serious liver problems have occurred, especially in patients under the age of two. Additionally, some patients have experience thoughts or behaviors of suicide. Depakote has also been linked to Stevens-Johnson syndrome, a sometimes fatal skin disease. SJS causes painful blistering and erosion of skin, rashes, and selling of skin and mucous membranes. On Jan. 31, 2008, the FDA issued a warning linking certain anticonvulsants like Depakote to an increased risk of suicide ideation.
